Actually, the “COLGATE” show (which changed its name to “THE COLGATE VARIETY HOUR” in the summer of ’55) went off the air at the end of 1955, ‘efrem’. NBC tried to revive the “COMEDY HOUR” under its original name (and participating sponsors), but not its format, in January 1956; it was literally a mess. Not even Gale Storm could save it when she acted as its “hostess” in the spring. It was replaced by “THE STEVE ALLEN SHOW” (while he appeared on “THE TONIGHT SHOW”) in June of ’56..
